45 Students Finish Introduction to Islam Course

On April 21, 2007 -  45 students finished the course and included 30 Vanderbilt students and staff and 15 members of the public comprising of doctors, retirees, writers, etc. Congratulations to all of them! Our event was attended by Ms. Gay Welch (University Chaplain), Emad Elsamadicy (MSA president) and by some of the Muslim community leadership (Dr. Bedawi, Salaad Nur, Yasser).  Many thanks to all of them for taking the time to be with us. Two Distinguished Professors to Lecture at Intro to Islam Course

We welcome two prominent Vanderbilt teachers in the Introduction to Islam class. On March 24th, Professor Richard McGregor from the Department of Religious Studies at Vanderbilt will lecture on Exegesis of the Qur'an, Shiites, and Sufism. Please click here to view his biography. Islam 101 at Holy Church, Murfreesboro 

March 14, 2007: Holy Cross Church, Murfressboro, TN. 7-8pm

Dr. Awadh Binhazim and Mr. Nuruddeen Lewis gave a lecture about Introduction of Islam at the Holy Cross Church, Murfreesboro on Wednesday, March 14 2007. During the event, Mr. Nuruddeen talked about the basic understanding of Islam while Dr. Awadh Binhazim gave a speech on Contemporary Issues of Muslims. Among the issues discussed were the issues of Jihad, Holy War, the Sunni and Shiites and the basic understanding of the Day of Judgement. Some of the OTE students also attended the lecture. They were Amar Razali, Wan Ahmad Hasan, Nik Mohd Daniel and Ahmad Nasiruddin.

Miracles of the Quran

March 2, 2007: Islamic Awareness Week. Tennessee State University. "Miracles of the Quran" by Dr. Awadh Binhazim. 6-7pm, Forum 210 at the student center.

Dr. Awadh Bihazim gave a lecture entitled Scientific Miracles of the Quran at Tennessee State University in Nashville. 
The lecture was organized by Muslim Student Association of TSU as part of Islamic Awareness Week events.
Dr. Awadh Binhazim explained some of the miracles that stated in the Holy Quran like the Big Bang Theory, the expansion of the Universe, the rotation and the spherical shape of the earth and the aquatic origin of life.

February 27, 2007: In a special collaboration launching the upcoming TPAC performance of ECLIPSE: VISIONS OF THE CRESCENT AND THE CROSS, Scarritt-Bennett & TPAC will present a preview, featuring several of the performers, followed by a panelist discussion on the commonalities of the Muslim, Jewish, Hindu & Christian faith traditions. Two Questions were discussed:  Prayer and the Question of Modesty.

February 27, 2007: Dr. Awadh Binhazim, who has served in different leadership positions in Nashville’s Muslim community, will speak Feb. 22 to APSU students in a political science class, Religion and Politics in the War on Terrorism, taught by adjunct professor and former national television journalist W.
